These are unfortunately poor-quality before and after photos of 1621. There was too much going on for me to get decent, clean shots. Still, the contrast is amazing.

Siding

Joplin and I swung by the duplex last night, no one was there to show the progress inside but we got to check out some awesome new siding. The sun had nearly set by the time we got there so the color isn't so great. The siding is a light tan.

The electrical boxes were disgusting before. Who knew these things could look so pretty?

Under pressure

The roof is still being worked on, though it's at 90%. Only the intricate corners and angles are left. The rain keeps a lot from getting done.

It's getting more and more exciting the closer it gets!

A war zone

The cutest addition to the duplex is a litter of kittens thanks to a stray, resting on some insulation in the corner of the bathroom. There are three, two are black and one is brown. Very cute, very tiny, and very in the way.

It turns out the kitchen floor had numerous layers of flooring, not including the layers of carpet that topped that. I forget the number, but it was upwards of 6 or 7 layers of vinyl. There's also a water damaged spot which is now a huge hole in the floor, where you can see straight into the crawlspace. It was actually pretty cool, you could see the original brick foundation. But, camera was dead.

There is now a hole in the wall diving the bedroom and kitchen, where a small breakfast nook/bar will go.

The people who owned this house previously clearly did not understand the concept of stripping anything before putting new floor or wallpaper up. Along with the different layers of flooring, the walls also had three or four layers of wallpaper on them.

The Beginning

I have stumbled across quite the diamond in the rough: a duplex that has been left in slightly dilapidated condition by it's previous owner and tenants - whoever they were. Now this home is being lovingly remodeled by someone who may be the coolest landlord ever.



Welcome to 1621 and 1619 NW 15th st., Oklahoma City, OK. These first glimpses of the units are unpolished. They are the begining of an exciting journey of renewal for this house that I plan on making into a home.







The entry way into 1619. This is the unit I will be renting:



Living room. It will have new paint and wood floors:











You don't. Paint. Over. Wallpaper.




Bedroom:









Hallway to the bathroom. The wall you see on the right, which is also against the kitchen, will be knocked out:





Bathroom. Everything will be replaced, including a clawfoot tub:



Kitchen. The appliances will be replaced, as well as the flooring. It'll be black and white checkered:
